Abstract

The study examined principals’ delegatory functions as predictors of teachers’ job performance in public secondary schools in Anambra state. The purpose of the study was to examine the impact of principal’s delegation of supervisory functions on teachers’ job performance in secondary schools in Anambra state. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Two hundred and thirty two respondents were sampled in the study area. Fred Fiedler’s Contingency theory was used for the study because of its relatedness. Mean rating was used to analyze the data. The findings of the study showed that principal’s delegating functions predict teachers’ job performance in secondary schools in Anambra state. Based on the findings the study recommended that Principals should develop and implement effective delegation practices that are tailored to the needs and strengths of individual teachers, and Principals should provide adequate training and support to teachers to ensure that they are equipped to handle the tasks and responsibilities delegated to them.
