IMPLICATION OF EARLY MARRIAGE ON EDUCATION OF THE YOUTHS IN IHIALA L.G.A OF ANAMBRA STATE
Abstract
This study was examined to explored implication of early marriage on education of the youths in Ihiala Local Government Area in Anambra State. The research design used for this study was survey research design. The population of the study comprised of all adults in India local government area. The sampling techniques used were census. The three research question was used for this study. The instrument used for data collections was questionnaire which contains 15 questions. The data collected were presented in tables and all the three research question were analyzed using means and standard deviation. The research found out that early marriage is a result of harmful traditional practices. In Africa, girls are forced to marry early for a number of reasons including traditions, religion, economic. This is harmful for both young male and female children as both usually form out to be illiterates. Recommendations: Parents youths should be educated on the dangers of early marriage and this can only be achieved through public enlightenment.
